Apply your minutes and your skills to build a better world.

This website is part of an evolving approach to direct people to opportunities for building a more just, safe and prosperous world.

The first set of opportunities is sponsored by A Prepared Plase, USA, a Pennsylvania-registered non-profit organization supporting adoption of AIDS orphans by people of a group of villages in the arid region of eastern Kenya near the equator.  The citizens of this sparsely populated region have been served by a long-established medical clinic.  More recently, they built a central school and water point and have begun to legally adopt orphans whose parents had moved from the countryside to Nairobi to seek treatment for AIDS.

The school now has 240 students, the natural and adopted children of the surrounding villages.  Obtaining sufficient firewood to prepare the mid-day school lunch has become problematic.   One suggestion is that in this dry, equatorial climate solar-powered cooking might make good sense.  However the problem is attacked, the community wishes a solution which is sustainable with local resources and the skills of the villagers themselves.
